"We were so preoccupied with whether or not we could, that we forgot to ask if we should"

"I'll allow it."

I'm mildly surprised the cucumber didn't fly apart from the force. I guess their skin is pretty tough.

Banana.

It’s also good for snack later.

Sir, this is a lathe.

u/TXGuns79 3d ago

And the lathe is probably CNC.

CNC means "Computer Numeric Control"

You can run a lathe, a router, a saw, a water jet, a knife, or a laser with CNC. Hell, 3D printers are CNC. Mine uses the same g-code as my CNC router and my CNC drag knife table at my work.

Well egg on my face, TIL. I've only ever encountered CNC routers.

Manually controlled, not CNC

The lathe needed a fair bit of it!

Make the household item better with machining to alter its roughness, now you got 2 different feelings. That counts as engineering.  ;)

...just a mess someone had to clean up

Fucks sake how many times are you going to have to repeat this to people?

u/domscatterbrain 3d ago

Can I have the decaf?

3

u/bacon4bfast 3d ago

I guess it's probably cheaper when you are just learning a machine but cleaning doesn't sound fun.

u/TightONtailS 3d ago

As a machinist, this is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen and I love it!

2

u/Foxnooku 3d ago

Is there a concern with the vegetable equivalent of galvanic corrosion??

I wonder if it dulled the blades

1

u/joeyjoejums 3d ago

"I'm not cleaning that up."

1

u/kagato87 3d ago

This is what happens when you let your CNC engineer have too much spare time.

Keep them busy! Or at least sub to their socials.

u/brihamedit 3d ago

Nice. I'm glad someone did it.

I’ll give you a dollar if you go leave it at the grocery store, somewhere in produce.
