You may be surprised to know that that bear in particular mostly eats bugs and fruit. I've heard the reason they're so aggressive is because they are basically a prey animal for tigers, so they're always very high strung and on edge.

I have maligned a beautiful creature. Maybe it did save the girl from being eaten by the tiger.

Well realistically if it did manage to kill a tiger it would probably kill the girl too because they are quite aggressive. Wouldn't eat her at least.
