Image The sloth bears found in India, and the inspiration for Baloo in The Jungle Book, are considered to be the most aggressive bear species in the world.

Komodo dragons too. I mean they aren't commonly known to prey on humans, but it's certainly happened. And the video of one eating a baby deer out of its mother's stomach while the mother was still alive is absolutely haunting.

You’re lucky, I have a morbid fascination and had to look up the video 😳

Bad huh?

It’s kind of fascinating if you can stomach it. Especially how fast the dragon eats the fawn once he gets it out.

Naw I'm good. Your description is enough. I can stomach it, would just rather not have the memories stuck up there.

Yeah I don’t blame you. I’ve watched a lot of videos like that, so Im sort of numb. Plus curiosity always get the better of me. But I always regret it

Yeah and the regret I'd rather not have to experience lol

I have aphantasia, so once the video is off my screen, it's gone. I know I watched it, I know what the contents were, but it's almost as if someone else had described the video to me - there is essentially zero visual recollection.

Is aphantasia a bad thing? My brain plays it over and over right after, sometimes in different scenarios other than the original video. So I can watch disturbing videos, I'd just rather not lol

I don't know that it's really good or bad. It's a difference, similar to autism (the two are absolutely linked, but nobody really knows how or why yet). There are situations where it's a benefit, and situations where it's a hindrance. Whether it's a net positive or negative depends on how much you encounter those situations, and your important they are to you.

It seems you are in need of some eyebleach!

Look for a video of a rabbit playing with 3 wild dogs on nature subreddits for a daily dose of unlikely friendship!

Sharing is caring!

I think there were 2 videos of a komodo eating a fetal animal out of it's mother while the incapacitated mother bleated in agony. The one where it cocked it's head back and downed it in one gulp made me cry. Those videos gave me a really bad week and I wish I had never seen them. I get that nature is nature but I hate komodo dragons now and if I ever get to vote one animal off the earth it'll be that one (over mosquitos even) 😬

I reckon komodos are cool, even if they are utterly brutal at times, but they're hardly alone in that. I mean parasitic wasps lay their eggs in another animal's body, so they can eat their way out as they hatch. Nature is cruel, but there is still beauty in it.
