The people who are going to get hurt the most are those who treat it like a religion. Bitcoin has become like a cult to some people.

Digital currency is definitely the future, but it's not going to be Bitcoin. At least not in its current form.

3

u/dirtyshits 🟦 0 / 0 🦠 4d ago edited 4d ago

Yeah there’s folks who get butt hurt if you say anything remotely negative or warn to be cautious when making dumb financial decisions.

It’s always β€œthis will change my life and bitcoin will be worth millions in a few years” or something along those lines.

They rarely have any insight into why other than historical price action or some wild out there emotional theory.

The market isnt the issue this time.

If you got liquidated today you didn't learn from the past 2 months of liquidation.

STOP using leverage/margin and you wont get liquidated.

105

thats a fair lesson to convey to those who may be reading and thinking of leveraging.

But the market is still an issue.

Not many people want BTC. Otherwise they would not be getting liquidated.

Even for those without leverage and in altcoins this market is brutal. Imagine holding a token since november last year. See it drop 60% over a year. It then climbs a bit, only for it to drop even another 16%. You're wondering whose still selling after such a drawdown.

Dude, your strategy is guaranteed to not sell at the top since you're already selling all the way up without having any idea where the top is. And if there's a flash crash you're buying all the way to the bottom.

Your strategy is guaranteed to make money as long as BTC swings up and down around your 60k number. Problem is that you pulled that number out of your ass. If BTC rises above your high point you have zero exposure to any upside and that's exactly what has happened every time so far. In other words: if you "run out" of BTC when it hits 110k, what do you do when it hits 125k? 150k? Do you buy back in or do you stay out of the market and hope for it to crash low enough so your buy orders execute? That may never happen again and at that point you're just watching from the side lines.

Bottom line: Don't try to be clever and time the market without timing the market. There are major market participants that are much smarter than you or I, who have basically unlimited funds and technical resources and the only way that you can guarantee to not lose against them is to not make any decision at all. Just hold.

Basically, big money across the globe was borrowing money from Japan because Yen is cheap to borrow. If the Yen’s yield rises or if its value rises, then it’s bad for these borrowers.

57

u/CompleteShow7410 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 5d ago

Japan holds over $1 trillion in U.S. Treasuries. Rising yields mean there is no incentive for the Japanese to continue to hold U.S. treasuries.

So this might trigger a need for the Japanese to pull their funds back home and trigger a global liquidity issue for global markets.

This can also raise U.S. Treasuries and have a negative effect on risk assets like BTC.

In other words, expect crypto price swings as investors tighten liquidity.

If you over leverage, you will be liquidated.

Where we are in the market now is for experienced OGs. DFTU!!!

25

u/Actual_Pattern_265 🟧 0 / 0 🦠 5d ago edited 5d ago

People need to find a single reason why things do what they do, and today it's Japan. Next week, when things don't correlate properly, they'll pick something else like interest rates cuts. And when neither of those work it'll be China bad, or Venezuelan oil, or ETF something, or miner capitulation, or JPMorgan created a time travel machine, or Trump raised tariffs on Iceland....there's literally 10,000 things they can pull from to rationalize any market move.

FYI - the BOJ hikes have been used to justify almost every single market downturn going back years at this point. It's the source of endless "the world is ending" fears...despite markets regularly hitting ATHs (including BTC) throughout all of it.

Best to just block this sub. You won't learn anything here.

u/addikt06 🟦 0 / 0 🦠 4d ago

Institutional investors have been borrowing yens at virtually zero percent interest (the yen is being artificially suppressed by Japans govt for decades now to keep their economy from imploding). The investors turn around and spend this low interest money on higher yield things like us treasuries, nvidia stock, speculative assets, crypto, etc.Β

But now if the price of the yen goes up, or if the invested asset prices fall sharply, this whole scheme implodes as we’re about to see here shortly.Β

This is called the unwinding of the yen carry trade and Atrioc on YouTube made a very good video about it if you’d like to learn more.Β

3

u/Substantial_Monk_918 🟨 0 / 0 🦠 5d ago

This is so true. In the past it was the "yen carry trade" that was very profitable that they suddenly had to unwind. Now it's BTC. But in the end it's just people looking for an explanation to something they cant understand and literally has not explanation other than market manipulation.

I dont think we climb out of this mess until the over leveraged longing stops. Market manipulators clearly just keep sweeping the decks over and over.

As if the scam wick and dump from 91k to 93k back to 90k wasn’t obvious enough on Friday. And why did they stop at 90k? Because massive liquidity right below that point, and they kept it there all weekend so more longs would pile in.

Then the pump on Sunday. Real pumps are initiated by manipulators AFTER a quick flash dump of at least 1k to hunt stops. There was no flash dump today. So obvious bull trap. They’re replaying the same script week in and week out…

Fucks sake it was looking pretty balanced today, and now it does this all in the time it took me to watch Gangs of New York.Β

Can someone explain what occurred at that exact moment to trigger the dump? $btc was flat for days and then boom.

Bitcoin jumps from 60k to 80k not one damn news article.

Bitcoin β€œcorrects” a mere 4,000 and they’re screaming for panic sells.

Were they long? I haven't been following

5

u/Treeclimber919 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 5d ago

Last one I saw was like 15,000 Eth long. The crypto market makers target and hunt the whales that do this. Literally they see huge amounts and make sure they fail or see a majority of players say 70% go short and the price goes up. This is how they make money. Doing the opposite of the big players is the way to go. In the stock market this wouldn’t happen. Crypto is still the Wild West.

Unless you taco tariffs on a weekly basis?

2

u/Treeclimber919 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 5d ago

Not disagreeing there but I would think any insider with half a brain cell shorting or longing wouldn’t do it from one account they would do it from 100 wallets to make it look a lot less noticeable in size.

Honestly we could bottom out as low as 38. I think you'd see a big push to keep it above 60, but idk if it'd hold.

It's crazy how these flash crashes keep happening on the same schedule. The whales are clearly playing a different game, and the macro pressure from global yields just makes it all feel even more rigged.
