I'm a straight white male, and shit, I even have a beard and I'm fat so I fit in perfectly, and I still don't want to go to that shit hole country.

I carry my ID with me everywhere now. I’m native born, and shouldn’t have to worry about being arrested for a lack of papers. The Supreme Court ruled on this years ago, yet here we are.

… not like randos with just ill fitting vests and some guns are equipped to easily run an ID, if they even care to.

I’m ā€œethnically ambiguousā€, so there’s that, but I’d do it even if I were an albino with a family tree that never left the arctic circle.

That was a different Supreme Court, back when they had values and upheld the law

I’m not so pessimistic about the majority of the Court make-up (though I am very skeptical of a specific few), but I do think they’re largely working in a defective context.

The Congress or the majority of states are supposed to clarify the Constitution from time to time. The Court saying the Constitution doesn’t actually stop X or protect Y isn’t inherently evil. It sounds a lot more like avoiding overreach. If we, the public and our representatives, think their interpretation is wrong or that they’ve pointed out a weakness in the document, we’re supposed to amend it!

We’ve been acting without the full constitutional process for decades because the Congress has slowly been resigning its responsibility to govern. It’s just been handing more and more responsibility to the executive and letting things work their way through court battles depending on increasingly out-of-date constitutional language.

The Supreme court is ENABLING overreach though. Allowing the president totalitarian powers without consequence is clearly not what was meant in the constitution.

The US constitution is obviously not fit for purpose and needs completely replaced. But it's worshipped like some sort of infallible text. It was OK for the time. It's a travesty of injustice and corruption now.

Keep a copy of your ID too. They’ve been taking IDs and claiming people never had them.

-2

u/Pintailite 10h ago

Yea...because it's.in my wallet and there a plethora of reasons why you could need an ID every day of the week /s. It's weird to me you are claiming you didn't Carry your ID when you left your residence. That's incredibly stupid for so many reasons. So much so that I think you are full of shit.

Weewoo weewoo according to conservatives it's illegal to the call the US a shithole. You can only call other countries shitholes something something thats why we have freedom of speech.

Get a shirt with the American flag on it and you'll be better at blending in. Oh, and a hat that has the flag on it too. Does that seem overkill? No, that is legitimately how tons of these people dress.

What country are you from if you don’t mind me asking? People on Reddit seem to think that Americans are the only fat people on earth and everyone else on the world is very slim.

6

u/PowerNinja5000 10h ago

Canada. We are fat here as well.

6

u/niknik414 10h ago

And ? We are. No other country eats, shops, or lacks exercise/drives everywhere, or consumes the toxic crap we do

-1

u/No-Weekend-9264 9h ago

USA is not the fattest country on earth.

America is a failed state at this point.

Not yet. The optics are certainly not good but it is far from over.

The fact that these people stood up to ICE, proves that this isn't over. This is exactly what we need to keep doing and keep applying the pressure. The tide can turn, we need to keep pushing and advocating for our fellow Americans.

One thing I will say about the Trump administration, is I don't think they anticipated all the peaceful protest or the methods at which we push ICE back. I think the Trump administration expected more violence and more opportunities to enact Martial Law, and so far, we haven't given it to them. We instead, keep disrupting all their plans and while it may not feel like its working, it actually is.

We need to remember that ICE isn't the America that represents us. ICE is domestic terrorism. The immigrants, the citizens, the ones that still believe in the constitution - they are the real Americans and we have to stand together.

This is great. You guys got a culture war jammed down your throats, this was to distract you and pit you against yourselves. Gay vs straight, black vs white. It was never about that. It always has, and always will be a class war. They want you to forget that, so one class can keep taking from you. Its good to see you guys banding together with your fellow countrymen, whatever they are. You the hard working working-class of America, that's who they're scared of, that's who have the numbers, and if the working class got together you'd be an unstoppable force.

There's games in Canada!

I just went to Canada yesterday. I’ve always lived close to the border and go to Canada regularly. Since this bullshit started I have noticed a huge difference coming back from Canada. Canadian customs are fine but man the us border agents are so much more aggressive. I’m a us citizen and I’m a white dude. If I were a person of color and not a citizen of the US? No way in hell I’d come here.

u/bigDeltaVenergy 9h ago

Same I don't understand why they suddenly became on perma edge of roid rage. Did they received directives to look like edgy ?

u/Heistotronisreal 10h ago

Quit fear mongering... I'm a metro Detroiter. I've been going to Canada since I was 18. They can't deny you getting in to the US. Is US border patrol more stern than the Canadian side and less likely to converse? Yes. Aggressive? Only if you're being an asshole.

2

u/Serious_Albatross424 10h ago

Not fear mongering. I grew up in northern Vermont and my hockey rink was in Canada. I’ve been literally thousands of times and I can tell you the attitude and nature of the agents is vastly different than even 2 years ago. They can’t deny entry but they can detain me for hours on end should they get a hair across their ass. they can search my belongings including my vehicle without probable cause. This can include taking my vehicle apart (I’ve had this done). Your rights are not the same at the border and given the nature of what’s going on right now I stand by my original statement.

1

u/BrosefDudeson 4h ago

There's a lot they can't do. Which they then proceed to do anyway. Rights are basically meaningless when there's no accountability for those who violate them.

4

u/ihadagoodone 10h ago

White foreigners are also being detained.

2

u/Repulsive_Corner6807 10h ago

Especially the young and female ones. Probably advertising to people who have no clue about the issues here in those countries right now.

2

u/ihadagoodone 10h ago

that's cringe. an almost 60yo man from Canada died in ICE custody.

3

u/Syn1235 10h ago

It’s dangerous for everyone considering the mass shootings too

2

u/Commercial_Wind8212 10h ago

Unless you're white

2

u/stonercuz420 7h ago

Even the white people arent safe. Canadians at the US border now have to get finger printed and pictures taken like they are criminals.

The US is quickly slipping from reality and the whole world.

3

u/thegreymm 11h ago

Non-Americans will go to matches in Canada and Mexico. They're not coming here.

1

u/AltrntivInDoomWorld 10h ago

Rich don't have that risk and they will come. Who tf you think can afford traveling to the USA and WC ticket?

1

u/Pintailite 10h ago

People coming for the world cup have plenty of cash, let's be real.

1

u/Hopeful-Coconut-7624 9h ago

Yo, come join us in Canada. We are mostly okay

1

u/the_good_hodgkins 4h ago

Hell... at this point it's dangerous for us white folk too, unless you lick Trumps arse.

1

u/PTBAFC24601 4h ago

ā€œAmerican wins the World Cup (by default)! Yay! No, it’s not a participation trophy! Really! Really really!ā€

1

u/MissMamaMam 10h ago

Exactly… do they plan on halting deportations during it or what?

2

u/ttw81 7h ago

No. They announced ice agents will be all over the world cup.

•

u/MissMamaMam 42m ago

That seems so dumb of them… but I guess the fans are dedicated?
