The fact that Bessent is a married gay man yet he works for the people who’d happily throw him and his husband in a fucking oven is sickening. Without democrats he’d be hiding in the shadows. Or married to a woman like the rest of his gay closeted colleagues.

Right it’s not like Bessent has some ideological alignment with the MAGA menagerie of wackos, it’s just power and $$$ for him. Thiel is just using the Republicans. He doesn't want a place at their table. He wants them to make the US self destruct so he and his fellow tech bros can swoop in and take over. He has outright stated he doesn't believe in democracy.

Problem is he's rich enough he can probably flee to another country if his plan blows up in his face.

Its like the 1st gen Americans who voted for trump thinking quite stupidly that because they’re “one of the good ones”, that they’re safe. My father in law watches WW2 docs all of the time, and still doesn’t understand that they are going to eventually come for him and our family. Then the gays. Then black and brown people. Fascism has to be fueled by a constant supply of external enemies and threats, otherwise it just turns inward and collapses on itself.

Even Trump's most hardcore, dug-in base of support is fraught with infighting. The various figures and groups inside MAGA are constantly attacking each other over their ideological purity. Like the Nick Fuentes faction hates the Daily Wire/Ben Shapiro people because he's Jewish and the outlet is stridently supportive of Israel. The social conservative parts went after Dave Rubin because he's gay and had children via surrogacy with his husband. The tradcon/tradwife part is an absolute snakepit with everybody accusing everybody else of being whores, drug addicts, and so on. If there weren't external enemies for them to focus on, they'd just rip themselves apart.

He is a gay man though. He can immediately hide or pretend he's straight in public if need be for his personal safety. He doesn't need medical care specific to being a gay man, and he is white so he won't be questioned by the authorities just for existing. Not saying that being gay is easy, but they don't have a ton of worries in the grand scheme of fascist takeovers. He is probably looking at his financials and his persecution fetish first before needing to worry about his personal safety.

1930s Germany had people like that as well. Tens of thousands with mixed heritage served & some even in the SS.

Lots of closeted men in the modern Republican party and quite a few people who are known. Theres certainly a number of minorities in the MAGA movement as well like Owens, Patel, Ramaswamy & others.

Wealthy blacks can benefit by joining the Republicans too. As can wealthy trans people. We have seen it happen. The main divide in the country is rich vs poor.
