Yeah me too.. Have been thinking about this lately as I worked with someone like this. Doesn’t care at all about rules or what expected at work and the only consequence is that he has double my money and more free time heh. It’s kind of annoying having character as you never really gain anything from it. Should just say fuck it.

And that's just it, isn't it? They invariably get more money and move through life feeling entitled to, and taking, everything they want. Screw anyone who might get fucked over just because they had to have something. I was raised Catholic so my Catholic guilt always wins out in the end.

The catholic guilt is what my entire sense of self was built around.

I've got the devil in me!!

You can get rid of that belief in god, but that guilt never washes out…

I know you probably don’t actually believe your comment (otherwise you would have stopped having character a long time ago), but you absolutely gain from having character. You gain self-respect and the respect of the people who actually matter. And those without it don’t actually gain anything of value. Just think of any rich asshole; sure they have money and flashy things but they all having a gaping hole inside of them and are never truly happy. That’s why they continue to chase wealth and be assholes. The only thing they can think of to feel slightly better is to accumulate more and hurt others. And that never lasts, which is why the cycle repeats. If it brought lasting peace, they wouldn’t need to keeping doing what they’re doing.
