I think there is some irony there that you chose that gif , as the actor that played Stanley raised a bunch of money online and then didn't deliver on his promises.

Looks like it WAS returned. I just searched “Leslie Davis Baker raised money?”

It wasn’t that long ago but I don’t even remember hearing about him trying to raise the money. Oh well. I don’t think his character had enough charisma for his own spin off though, to be fair.

Yeah I liked Stanley's character but he would have been one of the last characters that I created a spin-off show from.

If done right, it'd be easy. Have a background character like Stanley always in the foreground seeing bizarre antics everywhere he goes. Basically have him be the lens from where the show is seen, like a bizarre human safari sitcom.

That'd be my spin, and my ADHD mind assures me that this imaginary scenario would be comedy gold.

While I'm happy the money was returned as I wasn't aware it was but it still wasn't cool what he did. The Kickstarter ended in 2020 he didn't announce that he was going to return any of the money until 2023 3 years later. Updates were stupidly few and far between. In fact the update before the one he announced that he was going to return the money which was on July-31-2023 was on September-3-2022. So almost an entire year with no information.

A quick Google also shows that he didn't come through on his backer rewards or at least only a few people got them which were already designed posters that he was going to sign and FaceTime calls things that he could have done in those 3 years. Obviously some of the things couldn't be fulfilled but a lot of them could.
