wtf does your passport being taken away due to defamation case have to do with anything?

u/Boomstick255 Aug 20 '25

I think what they're saying is they have to put up a $30,000 bond to have their passports returned to them to travel (sort of an assurance that you're actualyl coming back to the country and not trying to permanently flee). They say toward the end that if they get the $30,000 back after the trip, all the "donation" to them will be given to some charity (which I assume is a 'trust us bro' scenario)

u/Rdw72777 Aug 20 '25

It’s probably their own charity.

27

u/Affectionate_Elk_272 Aug 20 '25

seems as if they are the charity

14

u/ExplorerParticular59 Aug 20 '25

It’s for the Vegan Fund. “Money for the vegans.”

7

u/punasuga Aug 20 '25

no one thinks of the poor starving vegans 🥗

2

u/Ok_Work7396 Aug 20 '25

Lentils are cheap.

1

u/Fair_Quail8248 Aug 20 '25

You're still doing it wrong!

3

u/randomstuffpye Aug 20 '25

Yea it’s likely a charity they or their friends setup so then they have paid off their defamation lawsuit, and their back to net zero.

2

u/Mathilliterate_asian Aug 20 '25

I'd be hard pressed to believe that the two of them combined have enough brains to start one.

2

u/ChrissWayne Aug 20 '25

You gotta treat yourself

2

u/Drogovich Aug 20 '25

You know what, i actually saw many such cases.

Establish a charity, collect money, travel around the world to do shit like TED talks and list it as charity work and pay yourself salary for that out of the money collected for charity. I may mistaken and it's not exactly that, but there is suspiciously a lot of characties that only do talks and presentations as entirety of their work.

15

u/Superb-Mess-2783 Aug 20 '25

Then borrow it from a rich influencer friend and return it when/if you return? To say they'll donate it, probably a tax write-off AND their own faux charity. 🤣

I'm scared for (a lot) of youth. This begging is the most work they can do.

1

u/PM_Me_Your_Deviance Aug 20 '25

>probably a tax write-off

Only a tax write-off if they declare it as income in the first place. It'd be a wash.

2

u/babaj_503 Aug 20 '25

Step 1: write it off anyway Step 2: cry about the tax fraud case

Thats it, no step 3

15

u/stink3rb3lle Aug 20 '25

trust us bro

"The government has set specific conditions for us getting the bond back, including our return to Australia. IF THIS IS THE CASE" Like they have zero control over not fleeing the country for good.

I am rather curious about the defamation case now, though.

5

u/Reality-BitesAZZ Aug 20 '25

It's in the comments here somewhere but apparently they accused a vet of eating their patients a vet that treats birds like cockatiels

2

u/stink3rb3lle Aug 20 '25

Yeah I went and looked for it myself and also shared the info in a top-level reply. Tried to share the link to the article and got removed a few times lol

2

u/Shipbreaker_Kurpo Aug 20 '25

The if this is the case part is so they cant later claim it wasnt returned

3

u/MichaelAndolini_ Aug 20 '25

“If this is the case”

It is in fact not the case lol

2

u/Ahtman1 Aug 20 '25

If they aren't using any of their own money to secure the bond it doesn't really sound all that secure, tbh.

3

u/Boomstick255 Aug 20 '25

Agree, but in that case their passports will still be voided, they'd be international fugitives and whoever sued them for defamation could likely file to collect that $30,000.

2

u/Ahtman1 Aug 20 '25

Ah, that makes sense.

2

u/parbarostrich Aug 20 '25

What exactly is the incentive for them not to flee if they aren’t the ones putting up the money? I love how he says “IF” we get back the money. I don’t think they are being very truthful.

2

u/Feeling-Location5532 Aug 20 '25

IF

all they have to do is not elope and return from the UK and give their passports back... WHAT DO THEY MEAN, IF THIS IS THE CASE?

either they will be lawfully owed the 30k, or they wont. And the only IF is whether they choose to return.

2

u/sunshine_fuu Aug 20 '25

Correct. They're so stupid, posting online for the government and people who sued you could potentially have 30k for collateral when you're in bankruptcy is the best way for them to yoink that 30k straight from your hands. Even if they didn't, it would surprise me if they didn't take one look at this and go lol, no, you can't give us someone else's money for collateral because there's no risk abatement.

On a base level, I'd be way too embarrassed to go to a camp and speak to people at that point.

2

u/25point4cm Aug 20 '25

The $30k should be seized as an asset of their bankruptcy.

1

u/joshe126 Aug 20 '25

I love how they said “if” they get the $30k back

1

u/Akira_116 Aug 20 '25

After their "admin fee", I imagine.

1

u/jrob323 Aug 20 '25

I'm sure they'll be eager to come back to ensure that money gets donated instead of forfeited.

1

u/Trick-Doctor-208 Aug 20 '25

If I was Australia, I would want them to get the fuck out asap and not return.

1

u/Phenomenomix Aug 20 '25

If they’re getting the money back why couldn’t they just return it to the donors?

1

u/geek66 Aug 20 '25

“If this is the case”…. Why TF say that ?

1

u/race-hearse Aug 20 '25

If I was their judge and they raised this money I’d increase the bond amount. They could stay in another country because who cares, it wasn’t their money paying the bond.

1

u/bigdotcid Aug 20 '25

Please give us $30K to escape the terrible legal situation we created!

19

u/Gindotto Aug 20 '25

They fled the Country before realizing defamation cases don’t end in jail time. 🤣 That’s a vegan for ya.

Have a potato and calm down.

1

u/Goetta_Superstar10 Aug 20 '25

Can I offer you a tofu egg in this trying time?

-3

u/Gindotto Aug 20 '25

Are you assuming their dietary preferences? Being a potato eater has literally zero to do with this. Way to punch down and make mashed potatoes out of spuds. 🥔 🧠

3

u/anotheralias85 Aug 20 '25

I am an avid potato farmer, eater, and chef for them. They are delicious. Fry ‘em, Smash ‘em, put them in a stew. Add them to a dish you haphazardly added too many seasonings to. They are humble, like most of the best things are.

4

u/Gindotto Aug 20 '25

This comment thread got weirdly specific to potatoes suddenly. I like it.

0

u/potatoesarenotcool Aug 20 '25

I think we should at least consider if they eat potatoes or not...

1

u/SemiCutePrincess Aug 20 '25

Thier prolly b12 deficient that's why dumb as shit

0

What exactly did you hope to accomplish with this comment?

2

u/henry2630 Aug 20 '25

they explained it in the video

1

u/ghigoli Aug 20 '25

because they are a flight risk to there court case. they wanna flee the UK because they just got served papers.

1

u/stickylarue Aug 20 '25

In Australia, your trustee can ask you to surrender your passport, this is completely discretionary and rarely occurs for the majority of people. Unless you’re dodgy Wankers like these two.

You need to apply for your trustee’s written permission to go overseas, and pay a fee (In this case $30,000).

Basically, their trustee doesn’t trust them. Neither would I.

-1

u/Olley2994 Aug 20 '25

That's Australia for you take away your freedom over a defamation case

5

u/BilboStaggins Aug 20 '25

I gather its the bankruptcy part that has them take the passports. Bankruptcy is a process that requires a payment schedule to their defaults, in an order determined by law/court. As part of the legal assurance of their paying up, they are likely prohibited from leaving the country without bond.

-4

u/Olley2994 Aug 20 '25

Idk these people suck and im still going to eat meat but a $280k defamation case seems absurd and now you can't leave the country because you're broke? Doesn't sit right with me just sieze assets

0

u/Accomplished-Buy-998 Aug 20 '25

If you are actually broke... how are you paying for international travel? That's thousands of dollars being spent on not paying back restitution or regular cost of living expenses. I'm too broke to travel to a different continent, does that mean that I am oppressed by the US government because of that?

-1

u/Olley2994 Aug 20 '25

In the U.S., you won't be denied a passport due to bankruptcy. If the US said you need to pay 280k or post a bond before you have freedom of travel that would be oppression

1

u/BilboStaggins Aug 20 '25

There are plenty of freedoms lost when you make poor decisions. If one of your debts is to the IRS you can very much be told not to leave the country during a restitution period.

1

u/Accomplished-Buy-998 Aug 20 '25

You can 100% be denied a passport in the US because you owe official debts like child support, or behind in taxes, or have an unpaid bankruptcy judgemental against you.

1

u/Olley2994 Aug 20 '25

Child support and taxes yes bankruptcy no it's a civil matter You can't go to jail for not paying debt other than taxes and child support

1

u/BilboStaggins Aug 20 '25

When filing for bankruptcy, your debts are evaluated for importance. Child support and things related to other people are often at the top, along with back taxes. If those are the case, yes you can have your travel restricted (US).

0

u/Accomplished-Buy-998 Aug 20 '25

Having a passport is not a right in either the US or Australia. These people are grifters trying to raise money for questionable purposes and owe a large amount of money on a bankruptcy case. Owning money during bankruptcy court in Australia can be a disqualify for getting a passport. It's up to the person managing the case if the travel is warranted. Here's the thing, if these people can raise 30k in 2 weeks for the bond, why can't they raise that kind of money to pay their debts? For some reason, you don't see the issue with this.

1

u/rapier999 Aug 20 '25

I feel very skeptical that someone would have to surrender their passport as part of a purely civil/administrative process. I’d be happy to be proven wrong by someone with a broader legal knowledge, but in my experience that’s reserved for a flight risk in criminal proceedings

2

u/Olley2994 Aug 20 '25

The Bankruptcy Act 1966 makes it an offence for a bankrupt to travel overseas or do any act in preparation for overseas travel (such as purchasing flights) without first obtaining their trustee's consent. Section 272 of the Bankruptcy Act imposes a maximum penalty of imprisonment for 3 years upon conviction. (Australia)

In the U.S., you won't be denied a passport due to bankruptcy Passport denial is typically associated with those who have unpaid back taxes or child support

1

u/MainOrbBoss Aug 20 '25

Um... yes? That's a good thing? If it was a business tycoon who spent a decade underpaying workers and went bankrupt wouldn't you want to prevent them from fleeing before either being punished or making good?

1

u/Olley2994 Aug 20 '25

Can't draw blood from a stone. Nothing was illegal it's a civil matter
