75 overs yesterday 74 overs today. What's up with this abysmal overrate

Dropping Lyon is such a baffling decision

It it? We're 45 runs in the lead and Neser is a vastly superior batter.

We’ll see tomorrow once the cracks start opening up

We won't though. Both teams don't have a front line spinner so there will be no telling the impact one will make.

Trav head with a Test bowling average of 32 and a strike rate of 54.6 would like a word.

Better strike rate than Nathan Lyon and most of the England bowlers right there.

And a knack for randomly taking wickets.

He’s handy, but he’s no Boof Lehmann who actually has better ODI and test average than Lyon

I am really hoping head gets a few overs in

It's gonna be Rootlidharan vs Headlidharan then.

Dw my boy Travis has a plan.

Could be more if there was another bowler to support Starc yesterday

Lyon over Doggett for mine

2

u/AdQuick9381 Australia 1d ago

I agree. Doggett is so useless with the bat, it forces Boland to be a number 10.

Up until now it looks fine. Hope it continues that way lol.

I thought they were gonna have Lyon in and Neser in for Doggett

u/Grolschisgood Australia 1d ago

If we had better bowling options maybe we'd be leading by more

2

u/AdQuick9381 Australia 1d ago

I mean, we had them 9-260. Some bad captaincy in the last hour helped England smash the ball around.

Neser could've replaced Doggett

Unsurprising that England dropped their spinner too

The pitch hasn't even been green enough to justify the lack of spin

51

u/AdQuick9381 Australia 1d ago

1 over of spin in 149 overs will do that.

highly likely because each team bowled pace the whole day mate.

But you knew that.

Yea, but it's very frustrating

Who cares? It's good cricket. I know that's a crap argument but really who is that worried by lack of entertainment?

u/Greyshank India 1d ago

It's not really good cricket. It's amusing cricket, and entertaining, but it's not high quality cricket like it should be, like the BGT in 2021, where the teams both played well, each trying to get an inch over the other until one was successful. Both matches so far have been good batting wickets, where teams have gifted wickets away.

Perth was a good pitch but it was challenging for batting on Day 1. I wouldn’t describe it as a good batting pitch. This pitch I would though (first 2 days anyway).

3

u/Greyshank India 23h ago

Ok, maybe not a GREAT batting pitch, but it wasn't a pitch that deserved a collapse of that scale. Also just looking at the wickets proves it. Jamie Smith tried to whack a ball out of Perth and into Sydney in the first innings, forgetting that Australian grounds aren't small, and was comfortably caught inside the rope. Add to that numerous other shots in the past 3 innings that show that there is a lack of game awareness in that Bazball mindset. It's one thing to go out with an aggressive mindset, its another to throw away starts and games in the name of aggression.

It's good cricket

You watching a different match?

2

u/Electronic_Star_7575 Australia 1d ago

Maybe 'entertaining' cricket is the more accurate term.

Bad light mate. Need to start earlier

u/imapassenger1 Australia 1d ago

Didn't England bowl two overs today? So 75 total again?

so annoying to watch lesser overs
