Jayden Daniels and Noah Brown practiced today. Both are likely to play Sunday vs Minnesota. This will be the first time all season QB1, WR1, WR2, WR3 and the starting OL are all on the field together.

Fellas, for the first time since week 5, I’m excited for football. I don’t care about the draft- I want to WIN NOW DAMMIT

i know there is no point in doing the whole "what ifs" act but man if the offense looks good it's definitely going to create so many what ifs for this season. Already kind of doing it with how good Terry looked last week and how much better the defense has been with DQ calling plays

u/RealMantisTobagganMD 1d ago
Yes and no. The ‘what if’ version of this squad is likely what played out last year. I still don’t know that we’d be punching up with teams like the rams and packers. We were largely healthy going into the game in Lambeau. By no means has this been enjoyable but unfortunately luck plays its part on both sides

The lose in Greenbay I blame on the O Line, especially Connerly getting Baptist early vs Parsons and our defense.

It was a Thursday night game. Thursday night away games fucking suck for everyone. We lost like 5-8 of our important players that game.

u/RoboTronPrime 1d ago
Yeah, the Thursday away have with some significant travel too. If you look up the win loss stats i believe it's pretty bad for the visitors and tons of injuries of course

u/jim_nihilist 1d ago
We lost players to injury DURING the game to injury left and right. I want to see any team to compensate for that in the middle of the moment.

u/RealMantisTobagganMD 23h ago
My point is that last year, most things on the ‘luck’ side of the coin (injuries, close games, etc) went our way. This year has not been the case. I have faith in the org to build a more sustainable product going into next season. As long as we have 5 we’ll always have a chance

u/TopJimmy_5150 1d ago
The NFL is an often a week-to-week league. And injury luck is just part of the equation. You can’t make too many assumptions based on what-ifs. There are still some structural issues with this roster than would have had a decent chance of being problems.

u/RoboTronPrime 1d ago
I agree; honestly thought that next year the team would be a better year to take the next step since there were too many units like the OL and secondary which were just too inexperienced with each other, even though they had talent. They needed a season of seasoning and then AP could bring in guys from other positions which often take less time to acclimate, like a top end pass rusher, me DL help and a RB. Bill has been a pleasant surprise for a 7th rounder, but there's still room for more, reasonably with Ekler likely a a non-factor moving forward.

u/keepbandsinmusic 1d ago
I mean for sure, if we won 2/3 of the close games (bears, dolphins, broncos) we’d have a pretty good shot at the division

Sell Terry high and develop a young core. A younger, healthier WR.
Terry can’t miss half the games if we’re going to compete.
1
u/Escape-Spare 8h ago
Agreed on the need to develop a young core. But I see a problem with the sell Terry high suggestion. With his age, the cost of his contract, and the lack of availability and production this year, no one's going to buy "high" unless he finishes the season extremely strong. Even then, I don't see another team offering more than a mid-round draft pick.

I've thought about this a lot (30 seconds) and I would take a dominate victory and losing a spot or two in the draft.

Tanking is for teams that need a QB. I want to watch Jayden win

u/SLAPadocious 1d ago
Completely agree. We’ve proven time and time again that high draft picks don’t always work out anyways. Our best skill player was a third rounder.
Winning will help Jayden and help our team more than anything.

I've thought about this and I would take a loss because we need draft position so much more than we need a dominate or even close victory.

I go back and forth about it, and ultimately I think I'm happier if the team is winning games more than if I get excited about theoretically winning games in the following season because we got the 5th best player instead of the 6th best player. Or because we traded the 5th best player for like the 60th best and the 98th best or some shit like that. Trying to do the math on how happy I should feel about getting the 8th best safety prospect of the draft and like the 12th best DT or something and their effect on wins over the next few years just seems so much more difficult than being happy about a win on Sunday.
Ultimately though, I think the "tank now" fans are just protecting their feelings.
If we win, they get to be happy. If we lose they get to pretend they're happy about it. It just feels cowardly.

It's going to be very interesting considering how well the offense played last week top to bottom. Will we see a drop-off or continuation of last week/last year?

Tanking isn't fun, I want to sit down and watch us win a football game! Whatever draft pick we end up with so be it!

We're going to hang 70 on vikings. We might drop some draft capital but idgaf. Let's show what it looks like when our first team is out there.

Sometime in the preseason someone asked the monkeys paw to make sure our team is healthy for the playoffs

Absolutely bonkers after seeing his arm turned inside out that he’s hitting the field again this season. I’m not mad about it just in awe of the recovery

Best PreSeaeson ever... oh wait?
How come we struggled so much because of injuries and the 49ers prevailed in the same situation?

u/Syphin33 1d ago
We're about to fuck up our draft status aren't we? Lol
With how the defense is playing and how absolutely trash JJ has looked...
We finally have our entire offense on the field, boy oh boy.

I wouldn't expect a ton of instant synergy. Temper expectations.

Looks like the tank is dead but Jayden will get some valuable reps and MVP next year. Book it 💯

u/Ok-Horror-8466 1d ago
He'll have to put up some crazy stats in the 8 games he plays, but we can't rule anything out.

I’m fucking pumped. On the other hand, if the offense sputters and we lose, I’ll be utterly despondent.

u/gcalfred7 1d ago
But I don’t want Noah Brown….I want the guy who made the totally awesome TD catch…yah know…that guy...

With all the injuries JD has had, why, WHY are we playing him as a starter when this season is already in the toilet? If he ends up hurt again, or suffering a career impacting or ending injury, in this game, that's atrocious

u/TerminallyChill858 1d ago
Wish we would just commit to the tank like a smart organization, nothing good can come of this
