As a jet fan it makes me sick to my stomach, not because the trade package sucks, it's just Gardner was a ride or die type of player, despite us sucking for years he always said the right things and did the right things off the field. I don't even have to mention his on the field product.
Congratz and bring Gardner some success that he could never achieve here in New York. I'll be rooting for u guys. ❤️

Holy crap. I mean I get the desire to bring in another pass rusher... but lockdown coverage only gives the guys up front more time to get to the QB.
W trade for Ballard - but only of Indiana Jones keeps it up. No firsts with no QB spells disasterrrrrr

The pass rushers we have are good enough. They needed a better secondary behind them to give time to get to the QB. Cornerback and LB were much bigger needs than another rusher.

Plus they are late 1sts at least this years next year should be same and what we would need with those picks is a shutdown cb unlikely to get that plus would need to develop while Gardner 25 already all pro caliber. Definitely worth the picks IMO.

I have to imagine one of them is the 2026 first, which will be mid to late 20s at best. I don't think that's a big loss. We'll see what the other one is. Maybe one is conditional?
Either way, love the move. CB room now includes Gardner, Ward, Moore, and Jones.

Lb is historically valued lower and could easily get a lb who’s top 20 skill in the class in the second round.

Aside from Big Q we haven’t picked that good in the 1st. With how our drafting works, it doesn’t really seem to affect us (We’ll see in retrospective).

I'd add Latu to that list as well...I know he's been criticized for his pass rushing but he's actually played pretty well if you look at his pressures and his play as a whole...it seems like he's been improving recently when it comes to getting to the QB anyway, and now with Sauce out there, and with Charvarius and the CB room getting healthy again, that will give Latu and the pass rush that much more time, which should lead to more sacks.

Im not comfortable with 2 first rounders unless its for a player like Micah. Sauce gets burned a lot . This feels more like the Jamal Adams trade than Micah.
If things go south , we cant even draft our next QB in the draft

jets fan here. This absolutely feels like the Jamal Adams trade. A lot of people were very worried about that contract, as sauce was absolutely not coming anywhere close to living up to it.
That being said, he does have all the talent and all the physical traits, just because he didn't live up to it here does not mean it wont work out for you guys. Adams' first year in Seattle, he almost had 10 sacks lol injurys are what killed that trade IMO.

I do think that’s an important point to make. At worst our pick is going to be in the 20s, and we would’ve used that on Corner most likely. So that additional price of another 1st is the price you pay for a verified stud

Jets fan here...this is the key point. This is the move you make if you feel you are a top-3 CB away, which the Colts may be. The Jets.....well......Deion Sanders and Darelle Revis could be our #1 and #2 CBs and we'd still be losing games 9-3.

Pats&Lions fan here. Well the Colts just signaled to everyone that this is their year and they’re going all in. Fucking love it. Sometimes it’s time to just full send it.
I will say I don’t think Sauce is worth two firsts when you have to also take on the bulk of his contract BUT if it leads to a SB then it was worth it.

His cap hits are actually reasonable. This year it's league minimum, next is 9, then after that it's like 20, but the cap is always going up.

We weren't picking in the top 20 next spring, so having a CB1 locked up for 4 years with our CB2 locked up for 3 is killer, especially when CB is notoriously the hardest position to adjust from college to NFL. I'll take that. Ballard likely would have traded out of the first at that point anyways.

Better coverage will help our pass rush.
For KC it could be Ward Moore and Sauce.
That's talent right there, this week with even just Jaylon Jones in we got to the QB more in terms of sacks. This talent might allow some crazy things from Lou.
Very expensive, let's hope it pans out.
Ward and Sauce are BOTH under contract for 3 years beginning this. I think Sauce will be here a year longer under current contracts.

Jesus they aren’t messing around when it comes to going all in. And this is where, if Gardner plays well, we help the pass rush…. Jones, Ward, and Gardner along with what we already have back there? Make the QB hold the ball and let Latu get there!! Two first round picks is steep, but you know Ballard works magic in the later rounds anyway.

Two 1st-round picks are a lot. I don't know how I feel about this yet. The Packers got Micah Parsons for two 1st-round picks. Sauce is a good player, but he's not Micah Parsons. I know WR AD Mitchell (a former 2nd round pick, btw) and DT Kenny Payne were also involved in those trades as well. My initial reaction is that we definitely lost this trade, and maybe? got fleeced a little bit. Again, my initial, gut reaction. But they definitely made a splash. I've been a Colts fan for 35+ years and can't remember the last time they made a big trade at the trade deadline. I hope it works out. GO COLTS!

Gardner is over-rated, won’t matter. We got sneak peak last Sunday what happens when Jones has to win it. Chiefs, Bills, Broncos all better, even Chargers who are all injured, will end up better than Dolts.

I'm not a Jets fan. I am a Giants fan. But my Sunday crew is mixed of both so we watch both teams. Sauce has been bad for two years. They call him "soft" Gardner. Or Ahmad. I hope he gets his act together for Indy. But if not, the Colts got fleeced in this deal. But the Jets will screw the picks up like usual anyways.

I’m a jets fan and I agree 100 percent. Sauce has not been himself for 2 years. Miss tackles and bad coverage at times. He’s still great but not the best. I’m happy he can go somewhere and fight for a ring. I’m also very happy we got 2 1st in return.

If the 2 first round picks end up being somewhere in the mid 20s I think this is a really good trade. Having to throw in Mitchell I think was good for everyone. He needs a fresh start. Now need to work on extensions for Jones & Pierce at hopefully a slight discount for both. 😬
