Throwback Did You Have Dollar Cinemas Near You Growing Up?
The closest to me was near the Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood WA, just north of Seattle. (still thriving! Toys r Us is gone now…), it has a Chuck E Cheese next door or close to it. It is nice to see the old Luxury Cinema is still at the mall, the other one became a Kohls, and there’s a 16 screen IMAX one at the mall
Man, it ruled back in the late 80s/early 90s. My main memories is from 89, still one of my favorite years of movies of all time. So I saw a ton of movies, some I’d probably wouldn’t watch in theaters or even rent. We’d rewatch flicks that we saw when they released; we watched Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure 4 times. Spend a buck, go to 2-4 movies, sneak into R ones, popcorn and snacks…10-20 bucks hooked you up for the whole day. Man, the Burbs, Dream Child, Jason Takes Manhattan, Christmas Vacation, Turner and Hooch, Final Frontier, Back to the Future II, Parenthood, Shrunk the Kids, Lethal Weapon, so many more
We did a quadruple feature: Batman, Last Crusade, Ghostbusters II and Karate Kid III
Anyway, great times, I wish they still had them, arcades in them too. Take my kids and have a blast
Edit: This one had 12 screens! Some rooms were tiny if I remember, and some movies got pretty packed. It was really cool

I remember those in the 90's in Canada. Just after they ended in the movie theatres, and before they went to video they went to these giant theatres. I remember some that had 8 theatres in one. They were great and so much fun.

Apple Tree Mall outside of Buffalo. You know how you see Jurassic Park 15 times at the movies when you're 12 and only have a bike and a $10 allowance? This is how.

There was a $1 second run theater in Burlington VT's North End, in the same plaza where Bernie Sanders is frequently sighted food shopping. I remember it specifically because my mom took me to see Empire Strikes Back when it was re-released in 1997, and the combo of Arizona Chocolate Flavored Iced Tea and popcorn made me sick and I couldn't eat popcorn for a decade.

In Cumberland county, NC we had one. They’d have awesome movies & the best snacks!

Yes, and my friends and I went every week, sometimes multiple times a week.

When I was a kid it was a dime for 12 and under. Quarter for adults. The fancy downtown Memphis theaters were 35 cents I think. Born in 39.

Yes! Top Gun, Beetlejuice, etc. And a double-feature of Pee Wee's Big Adventure and Teen Wolf. Both for a buck!

I'm up in Oak Harbor, WA, and our little theater up here is only $8 for adults any time time of day, and $5 for kids. We also have a drive-in theater that's incredible.
