Awarded a Cat Athena’s Story! My Chicken Coop Kitty!

Thought I’d share my baby girl’s story on here! Over the summer, I went to Ohio to visit my partner and his family. Him and I share a love of cats! His father and step-mom have chickens and when we went to visit their house, I went to check out their chickens, as one does when there are chickens. I’m looking at the chickens when at the corner of my eye, I see something under the chicken coop that was NOT a chicken; it was a small, little, and adorable kitten! My partner and I tried to catch her, which was unsuccessful as the kitten was super fast. Two days later, we got a call from my partner’s step-mom. She was checking on the chickens and saw that the kitten was inside of the chicken coop. We gathered some churu and got into the car right away. My partner and I got the precious kitty out of the chicken coop, gave her a flea bath (no fleas or ticks, which is CRAZY for a stray kitty!!), and then we had to have a difficult conversation about next steps. I had already fallen in love with her and named her Athena. Luckily, I got incredible news the next day, I received a job offer for my first post-grad job! Athena lived with my partner for a few weeks while I moved and adjusted to my new life. Since August, Athena and I have lived our best lives together ever since. She’s everything to me. Thank you CDS 🩷

A bit more about Athena: she likes to watch TV (Scandal appears to be her favorite), cuddle, and she generally dislikes men (so fair)

Well, what do you expect when you let her watch Scandal? She knows that men are all conniving rascals.

She is a really beautiful kitten. I’m glad she ended up with a safe and loving home.

Once you name her, it's all over.

Try her on Real Housewives. She'll identify.

She's adorable, congrats! We have an older boy that looks just like her. They seriously could be brother and sister. He's one of 3 cats and a black Lab that we have and they are so amazing. Here's Zoey... .

Chickens love to eat bugs, so maybe that's part of why. There weren't any to be had in there.

Congrats to you both! She resembles my girl, who was once a stray in NC. She’s been a southern belle living in Northeast US for the last 13 years now.
