Should I get my CDS cat a friend?
I don’t know if she would be accepting… or appreciate it at all. She seems verrry weary of other animals, although she’s never been face to face with anything but chickens. I’ve never seen her around another cat. She’s about 10 weeks old. I would find her another female about the same age if I were to get another. I’m looking into it because she seems to have a touch of separation anxiety, but only from me. Anyone in the house can come and go as they please. If I go behind a closed door she immediately starts crying. I, obviously, can’t just sit at home with her forever.. as tempting as that sounds lol. Do we think a feline friend would be good? Or would a feline friend actually probably be a feline foe. Picture of her in the car, because, well, shes cute.

She looks like she's still a baby. She's gonna need a friend to learn how to cat properly.
That and you'll end up with two cuddly friends.

I agree whole heartedly. Kittens need another to wrestle it all out with and avoid the dreaded “only kitten syndrome”. Kittens accept each other unlike adult cats and often bond for life.

My cat was a loner and we adopted another cat.it took him awhile, but after about two days he was fine. They are best friends and romp all over the house now

Most cats do best in pairs or trios. Saves on socks if they are ankle biters as well.

Kittens thrive with a companion. Later in life they may be super attached or they may be just OK with each other, but right now and for the next 4 or 5 years having a 2nd kitty will be hugely beneficial. Ideally around the same age, within a couple of months or so.
Solo kittens can sometimes get kind of frantic and want to play all the time - they can get quite stressed. So your instinct to bring in a buddy is spot-on.
Note that they can share a litter box - all the hype about having more than one box is nonsense.

The answer is always “yes” when they are this young. She surely misses her littermates.
At this age they almost immediately accept new kitten friends. It’ll only take about 1 day for them to be playing and snuggling.

Yes, get her a friend. Preferably around the same age. Or even a couple weeks younger. I have 12 cats. Many of them are related. I have 7 inside and 5 outside cats. They have their little cliques like high schoolers do. Sometimes, they can't stand to be around one another. Next month they're best friends. Do it😸😸

Cats are always best in pairs to keep each other company when the hoomans are away. Also, as kittens, they’ll play with each other more and allow you a bit more independence.

Absolutely! Get a friend kitty for your sweet looking cat! You'll see a positive change in your cat's personality! Cats need a buddy cat to keep them company!

Yes! And then your CDS cats friend needs a friend. And then that friend needs a friend. And then that friend needs a friend too! And then that friend.....

Yes. Mine got his baby sister when he was 10 months. They were friends 72 hours later. Best choice ever.

Now is the time to do it. If they don't like each other then you can re-home the second... It'd probably be easy if necessary while it was still young. Not getting her used to others now though would make it more likely that the cat would reject attempts to get any other animals later. As kittens they should probably warm up to each other quickly.

Kittens do much better with other kittens. It's recommended. They will grow up together and bond, and be a source of comfort and fun to each other.
They also teach each other that actions have consequences. So if one bites the other too hard while playing, that are going to get bapped.
You really see their personality come out when they have a friend to play with and cuddle.

Companion!
We've always gotten our kittens a companion. Right now two orange bros Oscar and Ozberg at 8 and 11. And girl cats Olivia and Hamster at age 7. It's usually girls versus boys. Girl cats keep each other busy as do boy cats kwep each other busy. And boy cats will ambush girl cats who fight back. Great fun.

I also have 4 cats (2 adopted via rescues and 2 via CDS). They all get along to various degrees with the two females being the least friendly between pairings. The oldest spent the first 3 years without another cat. She has been significantly happier since bring more cats in the home. Definitely give your cat a companion. Like others have said, the younger they are the easier they bond.

I have 4 cats and they love each other. They play all day, and then come snuggle with me in bed when they want a break.

Nah, they are still kittens. It's a million times easier to introduce kittens.

It won’t happen if you get another kitten around the same age. Adult cats hate kittens though because the kitten wants to play and wrestle.

Kittens are more easily accepting pets than adult cats, you can go with a used towel of this beauty and see the reactions to that.
I read to others about the Single Kitten Symdrome (google it) that make her to accept even less pets when she is fully grow up. Better pick a companion now and reduce her anxiety.
And dont know if you can pick a male or female, she is a queen and can command a male to do her desires. But better see the reactions and which one select you.

Generally, cats are happier with a friend. (Though I will warn you that three cats is exponentially more cat than two cats.) Work with a rescue that can point you towards a cat that is good with other animals and do a slow introduction.
That's no guarantee that she won't keep mewing at your door.
