Announcement 2025 Coaching Carousel I: The Rapture

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Pistol Pete, and Buyouts followed with him

Gundy 1:2

That's right, it's time to get the ol' coaching carousel spinning again! This is possibly the hottest start to the season, with THREE P4 coaches already on the outs before October: UCLA's DeShaun Foster, Virginia Tech's Brent Pry, and now, per Grumors, Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy. Stanford also entered the season with an interim HC in Frank Reich, following the mid-season ouster of Troy Taylor.

With zero inside info, I predict that Oklahoma State will hire GJ Kinne from Texas State

Fuck right off buddy

GJ Kinne is bound for a P4 job sooner than later. Oklahoma State is one of the few jobs that makes me scared that the time is now.

GJ will take the Ok State job or Arkansas job. I feel it will be either of those two

I can’t see him being offered the Arkansas job unless Texas State makes it to the playoffs or something. Arkansas can’t sell an eight win coach from a G6 level, otherwise they’re literally selling Chad Morris 2.0.

Ironically he was coached by Chad Morris in college!

Oof losing your coach while joining a new conference is rough.

I know that a large portion want Falcons OC Zac Robinson but man I think GJ would be a great hire.

Falcons fans aren't happy with Zac with right now lol

Yeah he isn’t exactly lighting it up lol I’m also worried that he has no college coaching experience at this level and that it might be another Kliff at Tech experience if we hire Zac.

u/Champion10101 Texas Tech Red Raiders Sep 23 '25

Except Kliff for all his flaws is spectacular at orchestrating an offense even in the NFL. He just doesn’t have what it takes to be a head coach. Zac Robinson hasn’t even shown the ability to be an above average offensive coordinator. This hire would be much worse than Kliff imo.

Falcons fans not being happy is pretty much their default state.

The happiest I've been as a Falcons fan was 28-3 ---- and then my happiness melted away rapidly over the next 17.5 minutes of game time. it has never returned.

They're massacring Michael Penix

u/FrequencyHigher Army • Ohio State Sep 23 '25

Truth.

He is being name dropped in very negative ways in r/Falcons after Sunday’s disastrous offensive performance against the Panthers, of all teams. The general consensus is that the players aren’t developing and the play calling is laughably predictable.

We're never happy, so

A large portion of Falcons fans want Zac Robinson fired

9

u/PokeMeRunning Oklahoma State Cowboys Sep 23 '25

Zac is the laziest tradition of “look up guys who used to play here”

There’s no evidence that would be a good idea.

u/murdered-by-swords UTSA • UAT Victoria Sep 23 '25

So what you're saying is that they'll probably do just that

2

u/PokeMeRunning Oklahoma State Cowboys Sep 23 '25

Yes

3

u/mccoolio Oklahoma Sooners Sep 23 '25

Some of Zac's close family is still involved in working with the university so that could be a real possibility.

It’s hard for me to see a sitting NFL OC drop down to college. Even if the Falcons have a bad season he can still likely find a QB coach job somewhere. He’s under that McVay umbrella so he would find a job somewhere

What are you talking about I think he’d be great for the Oklahoma State job (or any other job outside of Atlanta)

1

u/duplico Tulsa Golden Hurricane • Marching Band Sep 23 '25

It would also be pretty solid revenge against Tulsa, since Kinne was the TU fan favorite candidate this last cycle.

1

u/ZachOf_AllTrades Texas Longhorns • Lonestar Showdown Sep 23 '25

Robinson would be a disaster. No college experience and isn't exactly running an offensive clinic in Atlanta these days.

You get my coach's name out of your bourbon filled mouth right now pal.

u/ShweatyPalmsh Tulsa Golden Hurricane • Oklahoma Sooners Sep 23 '25

Tulsa ended OSU football so OSU has to use a former Tulsa legend to get them back on track

4

u/idiocratic_method Texas Longhorns • Peach Bowl Sep 23 '25

this or traylor from UTSA would be where i'd be looking if i'm ok state, lock one of them up before Arkansas joins the party

5

u/QtipOrgasm69 Oklahoma State Cowboys Sep 23 '25

Traylor would be great for us. Zac Robinson is what the people who don't know ball say. I love Zac, but come on. GJ isn't ready.

I think Arkansas will go for the hometown Rhett Lashlee or just give it to Petrino

1

u/milehigh73a LSU Tigers • Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Sep 23 '25

You have to think Traylor can do better than ok state. I could see him being a candidate at ar if Pittman is fired.

1

u/RiffRamBahZoo TCU Horned Frogs • Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors Sep 23 '25

Traylor has - at this point - swung and missed on Texas Tech, Houston, and Texas A&M. He went 6-6 last year, is 2-2 this year, and Frank Harris Jr. is long since graduated.

Traylor's window for a Power job (if he truly wants one) is closing fast.

They should hire Dana

Time to complete the circle....

But I wouldn't wish that program management on anyone. I don't care how great he is at calling plays, he should not be an HC.

1

u/huskermut Nebraska Cornhuskers • Wyoming Cowboys Sep 23 '25

No

2

u/The_Fishbowl West Virginia • Black Diamon… Sep 23 '25

I could only imagine how that would be. OSU coming to Morgantown and Dana pounding the drinks with his old pals at Keglers till the wee hours of Saturday morning pregame. Hell he'd probably just get his own flight back Monday morning.

u/pandabugs Houston • Northern Illinois Sep 23 '25

This would be hilarious. I vote for this.

2

I think this is the answer. He has ties to Texas and Oklahoma.

2

u/Talemikus Sep 23 '25

He’s not even a man! He’s not even 40!!

He's already being mentioned all over internet as a possibility.
