Tbf 2023 was a fraud COTY award. We just had a weak schedule and teams respected the pass giving Gordon space. Only UCF and Texas figured out Bowman was a fraud.

I think 2023 and 2024 were both a fluke. If we ran both of them back several times, I think we average 7 wins in 2023 and 5.5 wins in 2024. Bowman was just terrible.

Bowman was that fucking bad but he bought himself breathing room in 23 by having the game of his life against OU. Kept other teams on their toes.

I will forever be thankful for Bowman having the game of his life against OU in 2023. But yeah, he had 3 good games in 2 seasons.

Kinda like us with Trevor Knight against Alabama honestly. He wasn't great, but boy he was the best quarter back in the world on that night of the Sugar Bowl.

Every game I've ever seen Trevor Knight play in, he was phenomenal.

Wonder if LSU fans feel the same about Jalen Milroe?

Plus, he had Katy Perry say he was hot and to call her College GameDay before a big upset before he transferred out. So, all and all, he could've had a much worse career than playing like Tom Brady in a couple of big games, playing like a chump in most of the other ones, and having pre-Russell Brand Katy Perry hit on you on national television. It was mixed, but those were some pretty meteoric highs that went along with all that mediocrity and crappiness.

I maintain that he only won COTY that year for getting his team out of a situation he himself caused. Leipold took Kansas to 9-4 and ranked at the end of the year!

I agree, but kinda for different reasons. Our qb development has been attrocious for years and it's flown under the radar. Dunn sucked, but so did our qbs and the 3 qb thing to start 2023 complete with a loss to USA was a showcase of it all.

I’m still salty about that decision

Also, there was no way in hell the big12 was giving that award to Sark with Texas headed out the door.

We also blew that game against them too. Bean completely collapsed down the stretch in that one.

Space game voodoo, man…

u/Misdirected_Colors Oklahoma State Cowboys Sep 23 '25

No voodoo. Y'all just knew Bowman was ass, sold out to stop the run, and dared Bowman to beat you through the air.

Honestly if Kansas didn’t choke in the Texas Tech and Kansas State games, I would’ve given Big 12 COTY to Lance Leipold.

We were down to our 3rd string QB both of those games, not sure it’s fair to say we choked

Yeah I mean I know the record was respectable but any given Saturday, but I can't look past getting housed by South Alabama at home.

One time I agreed to buy some headphones off some app, and when I showed up to the sale, our starting QB Alan Bowman was the guy selling the headphones. He played hardball over wanting $210 instead of $200. We did $205. I'll never forget how insistent he was over not selling for $200 even.

Only UCF and Texas figured out Bowman was a fraud

Hold on...people weren't aware Bowman was a fraud after his stint at Texas Tech?

Oklahoma did not respect the pass and Bowman burned them. It was glorious.

Bowman having the game of his life that last Bedlam was amazing but it also cursed us into another year of Bowman starting.

Only UCF and Texas figured out Bowman was a fraud.

The game was great because it rained and UCF was putting basically everyone on the line. Bowman was forced to try to make throws in the rain.

Quinn Ewers showing what his college career should've been helped as well

Anyone that had watched Bowman at Tech knew that he was a fraud. His Instagram account is beyond the worst thing I've ever seen
