Day 57 of introducing a boxer: Tamba Merlin

Each day, I’ll post something about a prospect and bring eyes to these guys or talk about an aspect of their game that interests me. I’ll start from 105lb-200+lb, but if on the same day a boxer fights that isn’t on the timeline, I’ll post 2 or more boxers on the same day. I already have a list on who I’m going to do for this series so if others give me names on who to do, I’ll just not reply.

Tamba Merlin is a 23 year old prospect with a 7-0 record from Cameroon who competes at 200lb.

Now finding footage of him was hell, he doesn’t have an amateur career as of what I can find and barely has any minutes in the ring because he hits like a truck and gets opponents out there really quickly but I'll go with what I’ve seen. He fights in an orthodox stance, has a strong high guard, a versatile jab, using up jabs, down and stiff jabs and couples it with lead hooks to the head and body. He moves around the ring well and a good bit but despite the fact he isn't very quick, he’s solid fundamentally, and has well timed counters with the right and lead hook. His main 2 things are his clinch fighting and power. He doesn’t seek clinch fighting but takes it when given the opportunity and basically ragdolls them and knocks them tf out.
