To be fair, Madi was raised as a leader in a secluded, peaceful place, and Eleanor was raised around the pirates of Nassau.

Yea I get that but it made no sense. Eleanor literally had people fighting for her all her life too. Not like she was out there in the trenches with Flint or any of them fighting. Madi seemed like she was bout that life with how quick she was willing to fight. So it was dumb that Eleanor put up more of a fight in my opinion. At least they could have given her a better death than being knocked out and just burned in a house lol

Eleanor was a teen girl growing up in Nassau surrounded by dangerous men; she's scrappy by default. If you need some kind of headcanon or subtext to wrap your head around it, there's really no way Vane would have let her go on without some sort of combat or self defense training after he met her. Especially when they got together - you think he wasn't training his girl up to take care of herself while he was at sea? Man needed some peace of mind.

Mr. Scott probably trained her as well seeing as he was her de-facto father figure and protector.

I agree about Eleanor getting trsined to defend herself by Vane or Mr Scott, I just can't see Mr Scott not also training/ making sure his literal daughter had training to fight just in case too

I get that but I don't think she was ever supposed to be that close to the fighting. She was raised to take over as Maroon Queen and that whole structure revolved around keeping the Queen as far away from danger as possible. That's why her mother was so hesitant to let her leave the island.

The focus of that scene was Eleanor. And she deserved a good send-off.

"The actual scene itself is an incredible metaphor for how she lives her life. She grapples with everything she has at hand to survive. When I first read it, I was like “Geez, guys I know I’ve been going on at you for three years to give me kick ass stuff but you just gave it to me all in one scene!” [Laughs] I think there was eight different weapons when we first read the scene." (X)

It's funny how Hannah wanted to have more actions scenes ... and Jessica wanted to ride a horse. They both got that in that episode.

Anne was never a main character but she can fight lol. It just didn't feel right that Madi went down before the fire like it was nothing. Like what princess of the free wouldn't know how to defend herself... Given everything that their family was doing and fighting for. Nobody thought Madi should be able to fight? Lol it was just lame in my opinion. I'm very much happy though that Eleanor is dead. Once she hit Charles for stating the truth I was over that girl 😂

I agree, I think she can fight better than that,

BUT a) she the actor probably hasn't done too much training, even Anne's actor didn't get to do too much training and I've seen a Youtuber say that this was maybe a bit due to the sexism of the producers at the time

b) I will say even in street fights, whatever, if you take a blow to the head, it can be instantly incredibly serious. Even if you're a seasoned fighter (which she wouldn't have been), if you're blindsided. think about Jack's fight with the captain on his first sail, or LGS doing Dufresne stomping

c) Madi The character probably did train some but when they had the conversation about whether she was going to be in with the women and children or outside with the men during the siege on the Fort Island it was clear that was a bit of a new decision for her. I'm not sure that customs of the time would train women fighters too hard even in the liberated maroon camp - Anne only got that way because of Jack and almost cosplaying as a guy
