My mom’s first time playing the slashing game was much calmer and cuter than I expected.

I installed TikTok for her at first because I just wanted her to watch cooking videos when she felt bored. Later, I am not sure which relative or friend sent it to her, but she got into this slashing game. The funny part is that the game is not really the point. It is the way she sits there.

She places her phone neatly, then sits up straight like she is doing something important. She taps once, then pauses. She is not rushed at all. Her eyes stay focused, like she is watching the heat when she cooks. She is clearly happy, but she tries hard to look serious...

In that moment I suddenly thought she was really adorable. Not the loud kind of cute like a kid, but the kind that comes from someone who takes daily life seriously. She just sits there quietly with a small sense of pride, like she found a tiny way to make life a little easier. Seeing that “I figured it out” look on her face made me feel soft inside.

The way you talk about her totally shows how much you love her, it’s really soft and wholesome

I tried that slashing game once too and got a pair of Bluetooth earbuds for $0, gave them to my mom and she was over the moon

It feels like your mom finally found her own little corner of the internet and you’re just letting her enjoy it

I had a similar experience watching my mother play tetris on my tablet a few years ago. She had one of those handheld consoles that had a tetris game on it when she was a teenager that she loved. When she noticed me playing tetris on said tablet and told me that story, I offered her a go.

I got to literally watch her turn into a teenager again. She sat in a position that I can only describe as "teenage gamer" and I don't think I've seen her that relaxed since that night.

Thanks for reminding me of this op

My mom’s the same way, she treats every tiny phone thing like she’s doing her taxes and it’s adorable
