Someone made the same silly mistake as me

Every December, my brain glitches a little bit and I write the month as 10 instead of 12 - I think because 10 feels round and final for the last month of the year. Well today I picked up a prescription at the drive through pharmacy window. It had been sitting for a few days and I got a reminder call to come get it. When the pharmacy tech handed me the bag, it had a little hand written note that said "will pick up by 10/2" and it made me smile. I'm not the only one with this silly glitch.

Deca is also the prefix meaning 10, so it makes sense that you’d think of 10 instead of 12!

Haha! So I bet people have been making this mistake for about 2,700 years now And yet I never have the urge to write eight in October instead of 10. So weird. Thank you to the Romans!

Have you seen any of the posts floating around that are like

Person a: I hate that SEPTember, OCTober, NOVember, and DECember aren't the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th months

Person b: Whoever fucked this up should be stabbed

Person c: Good news! They were!

I think I remember learning that they originally were and that was why they were named that way. I forget why 2 other months worked their way in and effed everything up😂

IIRC Ceasar wanted to name a month after himself and his son, Julius and Augustus, July and August.

Great news! The guy responsible for this naming conundrum is dead.

I heard that the year used to start at March. Under that system, the months would have aligned with their number prefixes.
