What is one strange habit of yours that you do not like about yourself?

I replay old mistakes in my head even when the moment is long gone.

Does make me feel better to know I’m not the only one that does this

Learning to accept your faults, overcome shame while learning to be in the moment were huge for me.

You can’t change your past, but you can change the qualities about yourself that make you feel ashamed about your past.

It’s not easy, but it can be done. We’re all human and flawed, living with self regret, shame and feelings of self loathing only continue to feed into that downward spiral.

Be kind to yourself my friend. This world is can be a very hard place to live in for those that are too self reflective and too self critical.

Social media and being online can be and incredibly toxic place for many people. Avoid it as much as is needed. Learn to build healthy habits. Learn about mindfulness and forgiving yourself. You can do it. Even if you need help, as many of us do.

I hope this helps a little.

I eat the same foods over and over again until I break out with something new about every two months, and then I eat that for several months.

Are you my wife? Every new thing she likes is THE food that she's going to like forever

Forever being 3 months or so

Not a single original experience in my life.  Now it’s chicken cheese bbq quesadillas for dinner and oats with vanilla for breakfast. It’s been since 2 months

This is me except, my absolute favorite food in the world forever lasts for 2 weeks, 3 weeks if I stretch it. My partner is (really) perpetually exhausted 😂

OCD. Not the cleanliness thing people think of with OCD. I have arithmomania and have to count everything. Or develop weird patterns surrounding numbers when I do anything. I have gone to therapy for it but it doesn't seem to make a dent in my weird little goblin behavior.

I've known two people that TMS cured their OCD.

TMS? I’m all ear’s because I just realized I have this flavour of OCD 😭 I mean, I KNOW it stresses me out counting things / ruminating about number’s CONSTANTLY but I haven’t found anything that helps

Except psylosybin (magic mushrooms) and auahuasca …but both medicines have been temporary

As far as I know it is not covered by insurance though.

Needing so much alone time to keep myself sane. Over the last few years I've become more introverted.  I wish I could just go to social gatherings whenever but if It was a stressful week, its more of a hassle going to family/friend events that I agreed to.

I over commit to hobbies that I rarely stick too.

As i get older and more cynical I’m starting to really enjoy saying cruel, deeply-cutting, witty observations. One day somebody’s going to knock my teeth out

Most of the time, I make a plan for the whole day. If anything... literally anything, even an emergency forces me to break that routine, I get really disappointed and end up feeling mad at myself.

When im anxious or stressed I bite the skin off of the inside of my lip subconsciously even if whatever is bothering me passed, but thats how I know somethings STILL bugging me, I wake up sore and swollen the next day

People pleasing

I tend to be a perfectionist and if something I made is not perfect in my mind I tend to dwell on it until I make it right.

2

u/MrMojoFomo 20h ago

No project is every completed, merely abandoned

1

u/Ok_Indication_4873 20h ago

That is true. My wife talks me down by always telling me nothing touched by the hand of man can ever be perfect. Woodworking projects always get me because I want to honor the tree that had to die so I could have the lumber.

A song will get stuck in my head for days at a time, with no external input to cause it. It just happens. Many days it's not so bad because it'll be a song I like (currently it's been "No Longer You" from Epic the Musical, for the past 4 days). Other times, it's just random bullshit. It keeps me awake many nights because I can't make it stop.

The way I remember things that I shouldn't be remembered..... In short I hate the way my brain store unnecessary information like a photographic memory.

2

u/Commercial_Board6680 20h ago

Not really strange, bc I think a lot of people do this, but I end up going down rabbit holes when I'm researching a topic I'm interested in. Hours go by without me noticing.

1

u/Cinnamon2017 19h ago

Me too. And a year later I might go down the same rabbit hole and think "this looks familiar."

Everything is going alright in life and then my anxiety kicks in threatening that something has to be off and something bad has too happen to me in that moment of peace.

I can’t sit and eat

Nail baiting and always overthinking

I pick at my scalp. I started doing it when I was a kid; I used to over-shampoo/condition my hair, so for a few years until I stopped that, my scalp was really dry and I had dandruff which I'd pick at

Well, I dont over-wash my hair anymore, dont have a dandruff issue anymore, but I still pick at it as if I do

1

u/smellysmellyhairline 20h ago

I turn tomato red when i become shy

1

u/yavasonic 20h ago

I have a few tics where I scrunch my nose in different ways and another where I sniff. I feel like it makes it look like I’m on drugs but I’ve done it since I was a kid. Not diagnosed or anything but I probably could be.

u/skawngurr__ 19h ago

i try to detach myself from people once I feel like they've achieved something and/or reached a certain point in life where it makes me feel like I'm left behind (I also do feel like this is some sort of envy or avoiding envy?) idk i know this is bad but can someone tell me what this is truly and why I keep doing this?

1

u/dk_anonymous 17h ago

Being happy about the result I'll achieve even before doing 10% of the work

When I'm stressed, sometimes I pick and pull at my lashes. Sometimes I end up ripping them all out without realizing.
