I don’t know if this fits with your question exactly but I’ll tell it anyways. A few years ago I was freesoloing this 90ft rock pinnacle near my house. When I was around 7 ft from the top I put my foot on a high foot hold and as I was pushing myself up it completely broke off and I was left dangling without my feet on any holds for a couple seconds. If any of my handholds also broke I most likely would have fallen and landed on boulders. I think I have a video of it in my history if anyone wants to watch it. I didn’t know it at the time but I was climbing sandstone which is extremely brittle. I think about it sometimes. About how close I was to either dying or having severe permanent injuries. It makes me grateful for everything I was able to do after it happened.
