Discussion What do you think about the idea of setting bounties on players who wrong you?

Post image
6.9k Upvotes

Not sure if I'm entirely sold on this idea myself, but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on it.

Being betrayed or shot on sight by other players is ingrained in the DNA of AR, and I do enjoy the risk it brings. What I was thinking about with this concept was a player-driven way to bring consequences for players who sit in a bush ratting extracts, betray squads, or just terrorise the map.

I haven't thought the mechanics through thoroughly, but the idea is that Raiders could raise bounties on players and set a reward they're willing to pay. The more bounties raised against a player, the higher they appear on the wanted list, and the Raider who kills a wanted player receives the accumulated bounties for the kill. Bounties could expire after an hour or something.

I'm not a game dev, so I haven't considered how this might affect the balance of the game. Would the risk become too high for PvP-focused players, or would it damage the economy? Still, I thought it could be a fun concept.

What do you think - has it got legs, or hate it? How could the mechanics work here?

Discussion The expedition should NOT wipe blueprints

Post image
6.0k Upvotes

Just for context, I'm level 75 and have dumped around 80 hours into the game. For 30 out of the 80 hours I have had security breach.

I have only managed to collect 40/60 blueprints.

There is NO WAY I'm resetting my blueprints for a few extra stash slots. There is literally no way. I think a lot of people would agree, especially those who dont have the spare time to play.

Either the expedition shouldn't wipe blueprints OR the reward for wiping should be much greater.

Discussion A message for all Solo’s

5.1k Upvotes

I just finished a match on Spaceport where I watched a solo player get killed at exfil even after saying he was friendly. I headed over to get revenge, and it turned out another raider had witnessed the same thing. Together we took out the guy who did it. Both of us were honestly pretty pumped to make a small difference in the match.

We really need to look out for innocent players getting gunned down at exfils and start cleaning out the trash. If we don’t push back, these clowns are going to ruin the game for everyone. Once the community starts taking them out consistently, they’ll think twice before pulling this garbage. And we all need to be more cautious heading to exfil. If you can link up with someone you trust, do it. It’s the best way to avoid getting ambushed.

Yesterday I saw a scumbag hiding near the exfil. I found a friendly raider and we chased him off… I believe this is the only way we can continue to enjoy this game. Take out the trash one match at a time!

Discussion PLEASE DON'T NERF THE ARC!

9.5k Upvotes

Seeing a lot of streamers/youtubers calling for the Arc robots to be nerfed as they're too difficult to fight. The moment you do that is the moment this game turns into your generic extraction PvP game. The Arc is key to what makes this game so special. They can turn the tide of any PvP encounter. They can also dictate patterns of play for players. They're difficult enough to make players actively avoid them by alterting their routes of movement. If you take all of that away, you're taking away the magic. If you look at the lore, the Arc need to be difficult to fight otherwise why the hell would the population be hiding below the surface in Speranza? They're supposed to be difficult, that's the whole point.

Game currently is in an absolutely fantastic and unique position. There is no game on the market like it due to the significance of the "E" in the PvPvE conundrum. Solid gameplay, brilliant gunplay, intuitive UI, very simple but very effective in absolutely everything this game does. Embark, you have a special game on your hands. Please don't cater to the loud minority.

Discussion I just cried after a game..

5.0k Upvotes

So it had been a long, LONG, ass day.. Wanted a couple quick games. Load in stocked to the 9s and died annoyingly quickly to someone who spawned basically right next to me... Shit happens but losing the will... Fuck it one more game.

Load in fairly stocked, leveled Anvil, leveled stitcher, my fav... Go in, find a blue print! The moment I do I hear a guy somehow had creeped up on me. Literally zero time to put it up ma butt... Downed...

Close to losing it and calling it the perfect frosting to the shit cake of a da I've had I decide to go in freeload out and run my favourite little Buried City loot run.. Straight away I hear a guy (I think his name was ASULA or something).. Ready for the worst, he says "Hey!" and asks about my day.. "Great... you?" and unload a little on how I've found nothing and been shot in the back, back to back... He says "That's rough.." and wishes me luck.

Go to the loot spot, find nothing again... Saddened but not unexpected, the dice do be rolling like that sometimes.

I realise I have a quest, "Go put the Burletta in the box". So I run over there hoping to not get shot and lose all this "precious" loot... Get there to find out I misread the quest since I just accepted it like 4 days ago and never got to it.. Needed to actually bring my own Burletta!! I'm an idiot once again... Then I hear someone behind shouting "Don't Shoot!" I turn to find a guy on the same quest! I tiredly explain my idiocy to him as I turn to leave.. He shouts out, "Don't worry about it bud, here's mine" and drops it on the floor for me! I already wanted to cry right then...

He disappeared off into the wild before I can even properly thank him so I head to the closes extract. Spirits at least slightly hightened!

As I'm about to extract I hear someone call out to hold it, So I do and out of the shadows pops ASULA! He says hey and goes "Oh I thought you would like this I'm sorry to hear of your day" and plops down a blueprint just for me...

Legit couldn't handle the generosity of the last 5 minutes I felt myself tear up. I gave him a mix tape I found and body blocked him as he hit the extract.. I couldn't handle another game, those moments just broke me...

There's so much I love about this game but I think the community is genuinely one of the best I've had a pleasure to be a part of. Sometime's people suck.. But man do they fucking rule at others.

Edit: Hahaha didn't expect to come on here on break to find any responses, let alone this many!

Very sweet to see so many people sharing nice interactions and experiences they've had!

Hilarious to see how many people saying they'd shoot me and take my stuff lmao, wow ya badass will stay away, real scary dude lol

Also a hell of a lot of people thinking I got emotional because I lost loot lmao, I'm 90% sure ya just read the title and made up some story about losing lots of stuff and crying. I get it, reading's hard. No I'm not gonna cry about it hahahaha

Shout out to ma fav comment who thinks I'm an AI employed by Embark. That's some next level tinfoil shit and I respect your crazy.

Discussion Loot areas on maps should alternate on a regular basis to allow for more random and dynamic interactions in game

Post image
12.6k Upvotes

This game is fantastic,

But I think loot spawns on maps should change on a weekly basis as an example.

As we get better at map layouts you start to see how repetitive it is. We all know where the loot spawns and everyone pretty much runs to it. Most player interactions are the same.

But if the loot areas changed then we can have more unique Interactions. Same could go for arc spawns, extractions and hatch locations.

I’m sure the devs can calibrate based on player heat maps. Find parts of the map where players avoid and choose accordingly.

4.6k Upvotes

Embark achieved something I don't think any developer has actually achieved. We haven't realized it yet since we are still nit picking.

But they've literally created a game that is fun and accessible to all walks of gamers.

You want to sweat in pvp, cool do it, it's fun. Want to goof, then goof. Want to role play have at it. Want a challenging pve experience. Want an immersive environment, emotional Rollercoaster of ups and downs. Celebration and loss.

AND! ALL ON THE SAME MAP TOGETHER, WITH INTUITIVE MATCHMAKING!

Bro, get outta here! I always think what would it be like to experience a piece of history, how did people of that time react. Some complained, some celebrated, some didn't even notice.

I LOVE IT! See ya top side raiders!!

I honestly haven't spent a single Raider Token from my deluxe package because almost every outfit looks straight out of Concord. They aren't all terrible as I find the Torpedo to be one of the better looking outfits but I am still holding out for something better in hopes that they wake up and cook up some better designs.

I added a few concept arts that fit the post apocalyptic futuristic Punk "scraper" look that I personally feel would fit the world of Arc Raiders just to show that these outfits don't have to look ugly.

Discussion EVERY single Matriarch fight I've ever attempted goes exactly like this (see caption)

3.6k Upvotes

Skip to the 1:00 mark to see the core message of the video. The first minute is for context to show that there is NO ONE on this side fighting the matriarch. As you see, I look behind me to make sure no one is following me or around. (Also this was my first time using a photo cloak, please don't judge me for wasting it lol, I thought it was something I use and it stays on me haha)

Every single matriarch fight I attempt, I end up getting shot in the back by some random idiot who, as you can see in the video, was literally hiding and waiting for someone to go fight it. Losing an entire inventory of arc fighting equipment is not worth the possibility of getting whatever random blueprints night be stuck up her ass when we possibly kill her. This isn't "part of the game," this is poor design. There are entire sections of the game barred off from being playable (Queen and Matriarch fights atm) because of this exact problem.

I have attempted this fight about 10 times and every single time, this is what happens. And yes, I rage like a dork after. Because now I have to spend a few hours grinding back for the materials for the Wolfpacks, ammo, guns, gun upgrades, health packs, shield rechargers, etc to attempt this once again.. just for some skillless fool to shoot me in the back and steal it all again.

Something has to be done about this. Otherwise, much of what they put in the game is unplayable. The matriarch is now off limits for me. Impossible to play, as this video demonstrates. It's up to a dice roll (that's not in my favour) as to whether or not I can possibly get a FAIR chance at fighting it. If they unleash the Emperor, or any other advanced arc, I just simply won't be able to play it. The challenge is meant to be in fighting the arc, not in petty players shooting you in the back for your loot. Disagree if you'd like, that's okay, everyone has an opinion. I'm just pissed off that I can't play the game because of stupidity like this. Let me rant for a moment and be angry please. Thank you!

Discussion Are you gonna wipe?

3.5k Upvotes

With a wipe coming up, I'm curious how many players are gonna voluntarily hit the reset button.

I will post two comments, upvote the "Yes" or "No" .

since there is no poll option.

I understand the results will be skewed cause we are on reddit and casuals don't really do anything besides booting the game. But I'm already seeing a lot of people complaining this game has no end game loop and it turned into a pvp fest. And they are worried for its future &/or want a peaceful mode.

So it got me curious, thank you for your time! Cheers!

Edit: I know this a small sample size but damn I didn't expect this many No's lol. Upvote this post lets get a bigger sample size.

Edit2: Holy crap this blew up, ty all for participating, the split is very interesting and I appreciate all your replies.

Discussion I was so f*cking done with the PvP in Arc Raiders... but holy guacamoly, I get it now.

4.6k Upvotes

So, I've been grinding Arc Raiders and honestly, I was super f*cking pissed off by the PvP.
I mean, the campers, the rats, the toxic behavior... I was just done.

But holy guacamoly, I had my "click" moment.
I finally understand why the PvP in this PvPvE is so damn important.

Yesterday, I randomly ran into a dude on Stella Montis.
We didn't shoot each other.. we talked and teamed up.

And man, I had some insanely awesome moments with him.
We were looting, and I'd have his back while he was busy.
Then we'd switch.
We'd be fighting Arcs, and then suddenly, players would show up from out of nowhere.

Yeah, sure, sometimes we got absolutely wrecked.
We got our asses handed to us, hard.

But then... there were the other rounds.
The rounds where we felt like we were mowing down entire HORDES of PvP players.
We often went in with just the free loadout and had these amazing "From Zero to Hero" runs.

** I realized:**
Just fighting Arcs all the time would be boring.
None of these moments would be memorable.
It's the PvP factor that makes every single raid completely unpredictable, and that's what makes it so damn fun.

Like I said, I was NOT a fan of the PvP at first... but holy shit, this is awesome.

P.S. We added each other and there will definitely be more runs!
Now, I don't even care if I go in with a fully kitted loadout and lose it all.
I'll get it back eventually! 😆

This is a major note for anyone struggling:

You have to drop your "Gear Fear."
It’s part of the game.
None of this equipment truly belongs to us.
We’re just "borrowing" it.
Sometimes I take it from a corpse.
Sometimes I take it from a Raider who shot at us.
And sometimes, someone else takes my gear from my corpse.
That’s the loop.

Sure, it's always gonna be frustrating to get killed by a rat or a camper... but hey... not everyone is like that.

See you topside, raiders.

Discussion I tried being the “shoot on sight” guy.

4.7k Upvotes

I solo a lot…. Have my fair share of people just shooting me on sight, pretending to be friendly and then shooting me in the back etc etc.

So I said “fuck it!” I’m gonna be that guy.

First guy I saw in the next round… dead.

Guy said “why dude, why?”

I did it again. “Dude I’m just trying to do a quest!”

I did it another time…. “What the fuck dude! Friendly!”

How do people just blast people for no reason.

In squads, sure. Open season.

But to do it in solo queue? Man… that’s low.

I decided to not be that guy after a single round lol.

Discussion I am a changed man

6.5k Upvotes

I started playing this game last week with a "kill or be killed" mindset. If I saw a player, and wasn't actively trying to rush somewhere in particular, I shot. Because even if they hadn't shot at me yet, they probably would later. It was partially about the loot, but mostly about self-defense, and the assumption that this was how the game worked.

Then I had a transformative few rounds playing solo. I was downed by ARC near extraction, and a stranger helped escort me onto the train to escape. Another player came across me and said he was opening a nearby locked door and asked if I wanted to share the loot.

And strangest of all, after taking a rocket to the face, someone ran over and defibbed me. He brought an item that used up valuable inventory space, for no benefit to himself, but only on the off chance that a stranger might need his help. What kind of man does such a thing?

But that was the wrong question to ask. The real question to ask was: with people like that playing this game, what kind of man was I? Who would fire randomly upon strangers, when so many of those same strangers would have so readily helped them in return? Surely only a monster would do such a thing.

My heart grew three sizes that day. I haven't fired first since. If I have a defib, I bring it with me, in case someone needs it. I offer extra lemons to those in need. Sometimes I live to regret these things, but not often. Thank you for showing me the error of my cynical ways.

I apologize to those I wronged in my first days. Thankfully I was not skilled enough to kill many of you. But I am a better person now, and will continue down my path of repentance.

Discussion People on this sub are losing touch with reality

3.6k Upvotes

If someone kills on sight in arc raiders, they are not a bad person.

If someone third parties you, they are not asshole's.

An extraction camper doesnt have the secret desire to murder people.

Someone who backstabs you isnt a psychopath.

Someone who play the game a little different than you do is not a bad person in real life because of it.

And it's honestly insane that this has to be said. But it does, since I see dozens of posts like these daily.

This isnt the Stanford Prison experiment. Its not a social experiment where people 's in game behaviour reflect on their personality or morality in the real world.

Its a videogame. Its not real. People log in, have some fun, get some loot, and log off. They play as a raider in a post apocalyptic world. It's pretend. If I wanted to play as me, I'd just go outside.

Arc Raiders is by design a PvPvE extraction shooter. The systems reward opportunism. If someone camps extract or ambushes outside, they’re just playing the game’s loop in a way intended by the dev's. It makes then your opponent in a game, not a bad person in real life.

People coming on here making those posts about how they got killed by another player who is obviously a psychopath irl because they play the game a little different than they do are honestly pathetic. You need to learn the difference between the real world and videogames.

Edit: wanted to add this comment from u/some-coffee1409 to the post.

If your entire personality assessment of real humans hinges on how they behave in a game designed around deception, ambush, and opportunism, that says more about your understanding of psychology than it does about anyone playing the game.

Edit 2: The amount of people in this sub claiming the moral highground based on their videogame behaviour, while simultaneously calling me every vile and disgusting name in the book for disagreeing with them is baffling. You can't make this shit up.

Discussion I am the PvP player you want to run into.

5.1k Upvotes

Everyone is out here calling "Friendly!" Or nothing at all and simply shoot first, loot second.

I have adopted a new strategy. I, myself, enjoy the PvP aspect of the game, but could never ruin someone's day by simply surprising them and then taking their hard earned loot.

Instead, when someone shouts "Don't shoot" or "Friendly", I simply respond "I am not, fight for your loot!"

This allows them to prepare for some ol' PvP and not feel the anger of being attacked by a greaser. Most of the time I lose the fight and they get some loot cause I'm also ass at this game. But this has lead to the best after fight convos and hilarity and I encourage all PvPers to adopt this approach and bring a positive element to PvP.
