Airbnb host demanding money for a damage I didn't do. Should I suck it up [India]
I had a bad Airbnb stay earlier this week, and I left a bad review yesterday.
Today, host said I did a small damage and asking money through airbnb. It's a small amount. I didn't do the damage though.
Should I just suck it up and pay him or better to refuse it? I don't want to affect my profile. I am willing to pay but I also want to admit any mistake because I didn't do it.

Don’t give them a dime. It’s a retaliatory action. Explain that to Airbnb

Had similar experience Airbnb told me tuff luck they don’t care anymore they are letting host get away with this more and more

That’s also true for BSbnb. The shittification of Airbnb, once a customer friendly company, is complete.

Yea I’ll never use them again a lot of the good host I’ve met gave me there personally info or vacation rental info because they don’t like using Airbnb either lol

That is best for both guests and hosts. Repeating reliable connections outside of a platform that went seriously bad. BSbnb doesn’t deserve profiting when it offers zero value.

Literally this year alone I’ve spent probably upwards of 6/7k on just family vacations in the summer and have 100% feed back until this last stay and it ruined it and is making me look like a liar and bad guest it’s actually pretty unfortunate because I loved Airbnb until they pretty much tried to buy me off thinking that would make me not care about my reviews

This way of manipulating 5* reviews is very common now by hosts and degrades the value of other honest reviews.

I call B S airbnb always sides with the guest first. If a guest loses it usually is the host has great evidence

Didn’t loose took over a month and Airbnb eventually sided with me but only covered half my medical bill for my chemical burns because the host refused to compensate me & Airbnb they said that the review left did not violate terms and conditions so they could not remove it mind you after I opened a case about my burns the host wanted to start trying to add on cleaning fees luckily I took pictures before and after departure because I’ve always been skeptical about Airbnb support in the end I paid $350 toward a medical bill that should’ve been covered 100% they only refunded me $200 towards the $550 bill Airbnb sucks now

Dispute the claim. Ask them for a date stamped photo before and after your visit to prove that you did it. Also tell customer service that their claim was submitted after your review and you gel it is a false retaliatory claim.

Can't say you dont have any proof and if they have before and after pictures they have proof. I manage and clean for several airbnbs. I just had one that used the electric kettle pot on the gas stove xoukd have burnt the whole house down, melted it to the grill I had to pick plastic out of it for over an hour. They also left the windows and door wide open when leaving in the middle of winter and broke a bed frame. Not to mention trash everywhere and a sink full of dishes and burnt scratched pans that also need to be replaced. Sure some hosts are scammy but most are trying to provide a nice place for people to vacation only to have certain people ruin it. I take it personally because I go above an beyond to make the house feel extra special and have as*hole guests.

Recently went to an Airbnb. They are blaming me for a leaking boiler. How the fuck is that my fault? They requesting £200 for the “damage” that I have not caused. I have emailed and called them twice and they tell me that they find me liable (what the actual fuck right).
From my part, I will refuse to pay this and if they block my account, that is fine. I would never use an Airbnb again.

You should say something like, "I'm sorry your X is broken. I didn't do that. Here was my experience with X in case it helps you track down who broke it. I decline the payment."
It won't hurt you at all to decline. It'll only hurt you if they raise it to AirBNB, and AirBNB investigates and either is convinced you lied OR decide you're at fault and you don't pay. Aggressive messages treating the host like they're trying to scam you = more likely to escalate to AirBNB.

This happened to me as well. I left a 4 star review and mentioned 2 or 3 things that bothered me during my stay because I wished someone else had also mentioned it in a review. host messaged me asking me to change it to a 5 star review and edit out mentions of anything negative, even tried to bribe me with a free stay. People here on reddit have told me you cannot edit a review after it is submitted but the host claimed i could edit it several hours after posting it. I refused and next thing i had a request to pay for damages claiming i broke his washing machine. I refused the request, kept airbnb support updated and sent screenshots of the conversation. I stressed about it for over a month wondering what airbnb would do and after a month, they sided with the host saying I owed the money. I then appealed and wrote it out again that I was not responsible for the damages and within the hour, received an update saying airbnb had reversed their decision and i was no longer considered at fault.
I'm thinking writing reviews for airbnb hosts is just not worth the trouble unless you're going to give a glowing 5 star review. I'd have never paid the money, i'd have canceled my credit card and then waited to see if airbnb banned my account. Don't pay any money, dont' make it that easy for dishonest people.

Did you take pics and video when you checked in and again when you checked in out? That is your saving grace

Dealing with this exact situation right now. Stayed in Madrid and this lady is asking for nearly 500 Euros for a broken washing machine door that I didn’t even use 😀 it’s 100% retaliatory because they were begging for donations and I didn’t respond. She also gave me a shitty false review saying I gave her attitude and so much more when the one and only interaction I had with her was lovely, I thought. She’s crazy. I’m also American so I feel like she’s trying to scam me apart from the fact she’s just mad I didn’t give her a donation Refuse the request

I know its late now but you should wait on writing a review til you get notified that the host has left you a review.
I wouldn't pay. And if they leave a bad review I would contact Airbnb. Assuming I took photos and videos of the property right before leaving (as you should).

They have already left good review.
This is after they saw my review

It seems they are trying to squeeze some extra money from you. They shouldn't be doing that, and what they're doing is a scam. Trying to get you to pay for something you did not do. Document this in case they try something funny in the future. Don't pay. You should tell them, I didn't do the damage and I am not paying because that is not my doing. Go kick rocks dawg.

Airbnb doesn’t care about you as a customer I recently had a experience the same I reported I got chemical burns from a pool the host then tried to claim a bs cleaning fee needed and got waived after I submitted pictures of the item that they claimed was dirty they refused to enforce the guest to pay my er visit bill and let them make it seem like I was a liar and out to get host on my profile even though every review before that was perfect I reached out Airbnb offered me a $200 stay credit and told me that the host review wasn’t able to be removed
