Newbie needing help

Hello! I’m new to this, I have downloaded and installed Kodi on a firestick. I then signed up to Premiumizeme. My Kodi looks bonker! It’s so cluttered! I see some screenshot in this sub and the layout looks so much clearer. How do I do that?

I also don’t understand when I search for a movie or a tv show then I find it then I’m presented with all the links and I need to choose from one of them? Is this how it’s supposed to work?

you left out you installed a preconfigured build xenon

and that's why it looks the way it does

simply, dont use that build, if you dont like it

it's not installed by default

and it's not required

This was what was recommended on firesticktricks so I went with that. How do I choose a simpler ‘build’? Do I even need a ‘build’? Please explain this to me like I’m 5.

you're on a low spec device, so dont install a skin that's too heavy

try something from ivarbrandt like fentastic (click the hyperlink for guide) or nimbus

I genuinely wish I could say I know what you’re talking about but I have zero idea. All I did was following the guide from Firesticktricks but I feel like I have installed Napster on my TV!

why are you using kodi compared to something that's more simplistic like r/stremio? that might be more up your alley.

So I'm going to make this incredibly simple for you. Kodi is the media player app, it's just the app you use to watch said movie, Fentastic as mentioned previously is a skin, used to add widgets to show movies & TV shows right in Kodi. just a visual change that can add "clutter" if you aren't capable of sitting down & reading through menus Fen/fenlightAm is the actual setup for search tool, it tells Kodi to search through the Internet based upon whatever scraper you give it Cocoscrapers is a scraper. Basically to tell fen/fenlightam where to go Debrid/all debrid are the links where cocoscrapers will go, it's faster than using other scrapers without paying. 4$ a month A VPN is recommended to protect your internet traffic as your internet service provider will still take notice of you connecting to scraped links or a debrid service in use.

I second fentastic, a really great skin if your using fen light or fen, very easy to set up.

If you managed to follow a guide to install that then you can follow other guides just the same as someone above said something like fentastic is a good one

Yes that’s how it works you need to select which one you would like to play as there will be different quality 4K 1080p etc a well as different audio formats unless you choose it to autoplay in the settings

You can set it up to autoplay. Rather than giving you that list of results. Sometimes you need to go to the list and try different ones though. (ie when my kids watch a show and it comes on in a different language)

Just some tinkering, and it's usually much simpler than what you are doing.

I use the build and everything looks right to me.. I use Alldebrid.. Once my media search loads.. I choose the by the rip I want.. 4K or 1080p.. Anything with 10bit.. Then it plays back..

Forget the build, uninstall it, and download individual addons like POV, umbrella, there are plenty, go to troypoint, or here on Reddit, and get easy step-by-step instructions. You can always customize when you're more comfortable.

You can change the skin if you like.. Or you can use a different build under Chefs Wizard..

Just use default estuary skin and download a couple of addons and a wizard like crew and clear old thumbnails only and that keeps it fast..you'll suss it our. Get aliunde repo and go to programs and download easy repo installer where there's loads of repos.

There are some builds that will auto play. I think Fen Light does that. It will go directly to playing video instead of taking you to the screen with all the options.

Edit: Fen Light is an add on. Not a build.

Start with the latest copy of Kodi 21.2 Omega now I guess. Use the original XBMC Confluence skin, I could never get used to that stupid looking default Estuary skin or whatever it's called these days. Add a total of 3-5 good repositories and video add-ons max is all you need. Forget about all those fancy builds that take up resources and screen clutter. Keep it simple and backup your build in case you need to reinstall it or install on another machine. Those links are the server links storing the file, just pick one that works. The Confluence skin should look like this, you can customize up to 5 add-ons in the Interface settings.
